Apple's Magic Trackpad: Mouse Killer or Pointless Device?
Apple announced a bunch of products this morning, including more potent Mac Pros, iMacs with new processors, an a 27-inch Cinema Display. But the most intriguing new item is the smallest and cheapest one: the $69 Magic Trackpad. Rumored for months, it brings the multi-touch design and integrated button to an oversized, standalone wireless Bluetooth model designed to look good sitting next to Apple’s wireless keyboard.

(Apple says that the Magic Trackpad is for Macs only; I wonder if anyone will figure out how to make it work with Windows, or if the company would consider a PC-friendly model?)
I rarely use desktop computers these days, but I like the idea: I’m not exactly anti-mouse, but mice take up a lot of space, have a nasty habit of colliding with papers and other items

New ipods,Smaller ipad and New iphone Coming This Way?
According to the rumor mill, Apple has new iPods waiting to be released possibly later this month or in September. Apple has traditionally announced new iPod models in the month of September, so this is highly possible. More interestingly, Apple is also rumored to be planning a smaller iPad, one that has a more compact 7-inch screen. And finally, a new iPhone model could be unveiled as early as January 2011 to address antennae issues. There's no clue as to whether it'll be refresh of iPhone 4 or a completely new design.

iLounge - Take this report with the requisite grains of salt, but here’s what we’ve heard about the upcoming late 2010/early 2011 iPod, iPhone, and iPad lineups from a highly reliable source. If you remember our exclusive first details on the iPad, iPod nano 4G a

What Is Microsoft's New Mystery Product?
Microsoft has some sort of new hardware product in the works, and it's revealing it only one tiny corner at a time. The kooky crew from Redmond created a new Twitter account -- @msfthardware -- and has been using it to send out subtle clues about its latest creation.
f we take the liberty of attempting to piece them together, we see a thin, black, rectangle-shaped device with the word "Microsoft" along what appears to be the bottom back side.
The only other hint Microsoft has dropped has been the following sentence: "Don't be so touchy...flat is where it's at."
All right -- so what the hell is this thing? A handful of possibilities come to mind, all of which could fit into our "flat" and "touchy" clue:

• A Microsoft Phone

The HP Tablet Revealed-Not Running WebOS?
It looks like the HP tablet may have been outed - and no, it doesn't run Windows 7 (as Steve Ballmer previously hoped) nor is it doing WebOS (sorry Palm acquisition). It's running on Android, and Engadget has the scoop on the HP Zeen:

The Zeen is a capacitive tablet running a HP skin on top of Android 2.1 -- it won't get shifted to webOS, and it's not clear if it'll get upped to Froyo before launch given the development time required. It has capacitive touch buttons, a SD card slot, video support, and at least some prototypes have cameras with a special webcam app installed.

E-reading is a major focus, and the Zeen has "significant" integration with the Barnes & Noble Nook bookstore and ecosystem. Makes sense, as the Nook itself is based on Android, and being able to

Is Archos planning a new line of tablets?
The French manufacturer of portable computers Archos is mainly famous for their line of premium mobile internet devices, ranging from 5-inch to as large as 10-inch machines. Now the company might be planning a brand new line of tablets with a wider screen size range from 3-inch to that of 10-inches. The processors will have clock speeds between 800MHz and 1GHz.

Liliputing reports that J&R listed a new Archos device called Archos 32 8GB that will sell for only $150, although the page is no more available. There is no release date mentioned on the site though. The toy sports a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, an 800MHz ARM Cortex A8-based CPU, OpenGL support, and 8GB of storage.
